Why study here
Build your own academic direction in a research-intensive university system known for technology, entrepreneurship and breadth of choice.
Computer science, AI, engineering and biomedical research benefit from a large ecosystem of research universities and laboratories.
General education, electives and major/minor combinations make room to connect science, business, arts and social sciences.
Business schools, incubators and applied projects encourage students to develop ideas. Internship access depends on the programme and immigration permission.
Usually 4 years
Bachelor’s programmes often combine general education with a major. Two-year community-college pathways can lead to a university transfer, subject to credit agreements.
Secondary-school transcripts, essays, references and English proficiency. SAT/ACT policies vary; test-optional does not mean every programme waives testing.

Enroll at an SEVP-certified institution and receive a signed Form I-20. Pay the SEVIS I-901 fee, submit DS-160 and follow your consulate’s interview instructions. Maintain the required course load and valid student status.
Official sourceShow credible funding for educational, living and travel costs, consistent with the I-20 and university budget. There is no single nationwide student bank-balance minimum; the consular officer may request academic and financial evidence.
Official sourceF-1 on-campus work is normally limited to 20 hours per week while school is in session. Off-campus work requires a specific authorised basis, such as approved CPT or OPT. A student visa does not provide unrestricted work permission.
Official sourceEligible students may receive up to 12 months of OPT related to their field; qualifying STEM graduates may apply for a further 24-month extension. DSO recommendation, USCIS approval and employer/programme requirements apply; this is not automatic.
