Why study here

What Canada is known for

Explore research-led degrees and work-integrated learning in a country known for computing, engineering, life sciences and environmental studies.

01

Co-op & applied learning

Many programmes offer co-op or industry projects. Placements may be competitive and require the relevant work permission.

02

Computing & life sciences

AI, software, health research and engineering are prominent areas alongside business and public policy.

03

Environment & resources

Forestry, agriculture, clean energy and environmental science connect learning to Canada’s geography and resource economy.

Your academic pathway

Usually 3–4 years

Bachelor’s degrees vary by province and institution; honours and co-op pathways can add time. College diplomas are different qualifications with different immigration implications.

Typical entry requirements

Senior-secondary results, prerequisite subjects and English or French proficiency. Check province- and programme-specific requirements.

Official visa guidance

Admission & provincial documents

A letter of acceptance from a designated learning institution (DLI) is required. Most applicants need a PAL/TAL. From 1 January 2026, degree-granting master’s/doctoral students at public DLIs are exempt. Québec generally requires a CAQ, including many PAL/TAL-exempt students.

Official source

Financial evidence

For applications from 1 September 2026, one applicant outside Québec needs CAD 23,448 for annual living expenses, plus tuition and travel. Family amounts are higher; Québec sets separate requirements. Explain funding for the full programme, not just the first year.

Official source

Work during study

Eligible students can work up to 24 hours per week off campus during regular terms and full-time during qualifying scheduled breaks. Permit conditions, full-time enrolment and other eligibility rules apply; language-only programmes do not qualify.

Official source

Post-graduation work

A PGWP is available only for eligible institutions, programmes and applicants. Language requirements apply; degree graduates and non-degree graduates have different field-of-study rules. Duration depends on qualification and programme length; do not assume every course qualifies.

General planning information, not legal or immigration advice. Rules, funds and evidence can change and depend on nationality, age, programme and personal circumstances. The responsible authority’s current instructions take priority. Neither admission nor a visa guarantees employment, residence or an immigration outcome.
